This is the standard type of image that's used to look for cavities. What i have found so far is that it is supposed to be darker area. These may look relatively minimal and hard to see, but if you can see even a small shadow where they are pointing, it likely needs to be taken care of.

This often shows up a dark spot. If the cavities are on a visual spot, they can easily take a picture and show it to you. Therefore, dark spots on a chest film, especially if they are in the lungs, most likely represent holes.

Sometimes it is even an outright hole or pit. Dental decay doesn’t mean a cavity is clearly visible. The image shows the tooth’s roots and surrounding bone structures.
